DIRECTION FOR LIFE MINISTRIES

ABOUT

News outlets have reported that one of the largest chemical explosions ever recorded took place on the 4th August in the government owned port of Beirut Lebanon killing 150 people, injuring over 5000 and leaving 250,000 people homeless. Beirut needs your help urgently. The Direction for Life Team ( DFLT) will send experienced responders to work alongside local partners to bring help and relief to the city of Beirut.

Nature Source Journal reported “Lebanon was also already reeling from an economic crisis that triggered anti-government protests starting in October 201. When the country’s currency began to lose its value against the dollar, says Charlotte Karam, a social scientist at the American University of Beirut, food prices have gone up and about one in three people in the country are unemployed.”

The Port of Beirut serves as the main maritime entry point into Lebanon and a vital piece of infrastructure for the importation of scarce goods including materials and aid supplies. With many hospitals already struggling with the impact of Covid and now with the new influx of injured people the situation is at critical.

BEIRUT AID APPEAL

Chaplain Christy Smith from Brighton, chairman of Direction for Life Ministries is launching an appeal for funds to bring much needed help to Beruit. DFL has many years of experience in distributing aid to stricken regions and suffering people.

The DFL team in partnership with the Elim Relief Agency (ERA) will connect with existing contacts in the city who are already responding to the crisis. We want to meet some of the immediate and basic needs of people who have been affected by the disaster by distributing basic food and water. Our trained volunteers who have years of experience in disaster relief from 9/11, London terror attacks to natural disasters in Haiti, Nepal and Indonesia will seek to bring hope and peace in a time of great disruption and difficulty for the stricken people of Beirut. DFL will bring invaluable experience in helping and caring for those affected.
